Concern Grows Over Drugs and Chemicals in Drinking Water

New analytical techniques have now made it possible to accurately measure small amounts of chemicals in drinking water. These compounds, which include pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) along with endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs), have long been known to have adverse effects on the environment. According to an article in Water Quality Products Magazine, now that these compounds can be measured in the water supply, concern is growing on the effect they may have on human health.

Teen Boys Consume Large Amounts of Sugary Drinks

A recent national survey has found that the amount of sugar that teen boys consume from sodas, energy drinks, sweetened fruit juices and other sugary soft drinks on a daily basis exceeds the government recommendation for all daily sugar consumption by more than 200%.

Fukushima Radiation in Drinking Water?

According to Food Processing Magazine, elevated levels of radiation have been found in drinking water from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, likely due to the fallout of the nuclear reactor crisis in Fukushima, Japan.
