Passover Beverage Recipe — Lava Lamp Cocktail/Mocktail

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Make this fun drink with or without alcohol, anything with bubbles will do. Use the cranberry simple syrup for the color and flavor and enjoy the excitement as the cranberries pop up and around.  Makes 2+ servings.

Ingredients:

Cranberry Simple Syrup
2 1/4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Syfo Kosher for Passover Original Seltzer
Dried cranberries

Preparation:

Make the cranberry simple syrup. In a medium saucepan, bring cranberries, sugar and water to a simmer over medium  heat.  Reduce heat to medium low and cook until cranberries are tender but haven’t burst, about 10 minutes. Let cool, strain cranberries out and store simple syrup until ready to use in the fridge.

For each drink, place a few dried cranberries in a champagne flute.  Add ½ cup sparkling beverage of choice and then add about 1 tablespoon simple syrup.   After a minute the cranberries will float up and there will be a lava lamp effect.

Sparkling Drink Recipes to Beat the Sizzling Heat

The calendar may say it’s still spring, but the sizzling summer heat is already upon us and one way to stay cool is with a refreshing summer cocktail. Recipes with sparkling water have a distinct advantage too, because they give you a little hydration to beat the heat. Here are a few of our favorites:

Watermelon Peach Spritzer

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 liters of Syfo Lemon-Lime Naturally Flavored Sparkling Water
  • Frozen sliced peaches
  • Watermelon, cubed
  • Ice cubes

PREPARATION

Put about 5 frozen peach slices in the bottom of each glass. Also add about 5 pieces of cubed watermelon to each glass as well. The amount of fruit you can add will depend on your glass size. I found about 5 peach slices and 5 watermelon cubes worked well for my glass sizes.

To each glass also add 2 ice cubes. Then fill up each glass with the lemon-lime sparkling water. Stir each glass to mix the fruit throughout the drink. If desired, place a piece of watermelon on the rim of each glass.
