A recipe that’s perfect for the early days of fall and tastes great with or without alcohol:
INGREDIENTS and Preparation
- Pour about 2 oz. of rum, vodka or favorite spirit into a medium glass.
- Add in 2 oz. of Ginger Simple Syrup to taste (see below for the syrup recipe).
- Top off with 6 oz. of cold Syfo Peach-Pear Naturally Flavored Sparkling Water.
- Freeze a tray of Syfo Peach-Pear Sparkling water ahead of time to be used for ice if desired.
- Garnish with mint.
For the Ginger Simple Syrup:
Ingredients
- 4 oz. Fresh ginger (about 5 inches of ginger root)
- 1 ½ cups purified water
- 1 cup brown or white sugar
- 1 ½ tsp. whole black peppercorns (optional)
Preparation
Cut the ginger in slices and chop the slices into ¼ inch chunks. Place ginger, water and sugar mixture in a clay, enamel, glass or stainless steel pot. Heat to a boil and then reduce heat to a very low simmer for 30 minutes. Cool the syrup then strain it for use in beverage recipe. The liquid can be stored in a covered glass container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The ginger from the syrup can be dried and eaten as sugared ginger.
